Rajesh of SMS fame is the director for this movie BEB, a nice easy romantic comedy movie. The casting works just fine for this movie. Arya (Boss) has improved his comedy one liners, whereas Santhanam (Nalla Thambi) as a barber is the revelation with Nayanthara playing Chandrika, a girl next door is full of energy and definitely brings the house down. Subbu Panju (Saravanan) as Arya’s brother has amended the comedy in this film well. Music from Yuvan is ordinary with couple of mass hits in his songs, and a genre like this does not require a challenging back ground score.
Boss is a complete introvert and an easy going fellow, writes his arrear papers in English meet Chandrika, a trainee professor who catches Boss copying, falls for the same guy in series of scenes. The complete movie is hilarious with apt captions like “nanbenda” “pardon me” are the stand outs. Director has aimed for a hilarious movie, wherein he brings in humor even in serious situations. For example when Boss walks out of his house in a stiff, during heavy rain, finds his brother coming with help, umbrella in hand saying don’t come back citing rain. Arya, santhanam comedy works big time and credit should be given to Arya for leaving his ego out and making Santhanam steal most of the comic scenes. Good to see Nayanthara sparkle and have a character to play rather than run around hero’s in many of her previous ventures. The story has hilarious screen play with twists and gets down to the end on how Boss gets Chandrika. The climax scene with Jiiva is a cracker and Santhanam’s drunken speech in bank’s celebrations is awesome.
Director has done a commendable job with a family comedy work. Am personally looking forward for his next movie with Udhyanidhi Stalin. This movie works big time, and would help the family audience going. Even it acted well as a piggy back for the mighty Enthiran.
