Chikku Bukku, the recent hit maker’s (Arya) film is not going to be lucky for him. Finding yourself in a reputation often gets you into trouble. Chikku Bukku has botched Arya’s Midas run. Manikandan the director a former assistant of late Jeeva makes this film technically superior. But has failed to give a travelogue script crisper, a script with the leads travelling from London to Karikudi could have been handled lot better. You could get shades of Bollywood films, which has made this film even a bigger bore. Arya is in his usual stuff, and his improving every time in his dialogue delivery and dancing skills, Shriya overacts big time and slightly irritates if you are not her fan. Preetika the new face has got a meat role, and she is OK. Santhanam’s comedy which does not run part of the plot is good but Santhanam’s potency is when he is part of the plot. Colonial cousin’s music is very ordinary.
The plot has two sidetracks, one of a present Arya (Arjun, an DJ in London) romancing Shriya (Anu, an MBA Student in London) going astray while they travel from London to Madurai via Bangalore and the other track is of Arya’s dad (Sekhar, played by himself) trying to get into police force and a failed love affair with Preetika. Film narrates both romances side by side when Arjun lurch to an old diary written by his father. All the slow lead up finally ends in how Arjun gets his lady love Anu who happens to be the daughter of Preetika.
The screenplay falls at lot of times and there is no authenticity. It is absurd to see the costumes of Arya during the flash back which dates to 1985 and Arya happens to drive a modern bullet with left hand side gear and all. My mother would have made my dad lot poorer if she has got those Designer jewelry sets of Preetika during the flashback periods. This movie could have been better if the director has concentrated on the script.
Please go and watch this movie as soon as possible, if you are an Arya’s fan, since it might not be on the big screen for long.
