Just not wasting anytime here praising, KV Anand the director. KO is a pucca commercial extravagance for the entire family for the summer; he has given the necessary casing to be a racy entertainer.
When you see the movie you would feel WOW, film cinematography is so good. But no surprises here for that, when you know the movie is out of Anand’s eyes. To his novelty he has presented amateur photographers effort during the title credits of the movie. He has gone through the pain of scanning thousands of submitted photos and selected some hundred snaps to be on the title rolling. The complete movie is a treat to watch
Harris Jeyraj combination with Anand has already created chart busters with Ayan, but this combination even though does not pull out the same charm gives you couple of super songs. But what stands out this time is the BG score , which is simply outstanding. Editing is crisp and choreography is ample.
The end product is good because of some honest writing and full marks to writer Suba and Anand for their dialogues which resemble so much in TN politics, laced with humor and silky romance.
Jiiva (He prefers ii to ee) as a photojournalist is pure joy to watch. He is such a flair, and has grabbed this script which was once gutted out by Simbhu . He is so apt to the role, quick-witted, chirpy and matured. For once he does not have to use local slang, or fly with sickle in hand and beat villains; instead he has played with decent clothes, talks pretty urban and acts a character which is close to his age in real life. Ajmal the second hero has almost out classed Jiiva, hats off to Anand to portray this talented "former doctor" in such a heavy role. Piaa is good for the role , and along with Karthika (Daughter of Radha) makes the film work. Little thwarted the way Prakash Raj as Chief Minister Role was subdued. Other characters that come as the Naxals, and Jeeva’s colleague in the press office are so apt and real.
Ashwin (Jiiva) is a hardworking committed photographer working for a Tamil daily Dina Anjali. Ashwin obsession for coming out with pictures that speak and tell the truth, makes him a star in his office. Two lady journalists working in the same paper Renuka (Karthika), the investigative reporter and Saro (Piaa), falls for him. Ashwin gets hooked in a bank robbery and photographs the episode and on the other track he has been assigned to cover the elections of TN assembly. He brings the real face of Yogeswaran (Prakash Raj) and Kota (Sreenivasa Rao) to the public thus helping the third front floated by the youth headed by Vasanthan (Ajmal) who believes in clean politics win the elections. Rest of the story is how Ashwin due to various circumstances be the real gentle man and hopes for a great future for Tamil Nadu shown in an interesting twist in the climax with riveting screenplay for the preceding 20 minutes.
Overall after watching so much hopeless pot boilers this year, it is a welcome break to see a fresh script in KO. The drawback for this otherwise entertaining movie is couple of songs inserted which fades the grip on the story and also there are stands which cannot be believed in real life, but who cares it is a commercial entertainer, put your brains in a bag and enjoy the fun ride. Overall KO at large works. KO most definitely a GO
The House : Young and energetic .... WAY TO GO
