Kamal Hassan & K.S.Ravi Kumar pair in past has worked really well for the Tamil audience and has come up with good movies. Manmadan Ambu proves the pair to be successful yet again. Great work from Udhayanidhi as a producer to bring the talented cast together with Kamal Hassan ( Major Raja Mannar ), Trisha ( Ambujakshi a.k.a Nisha), Madhavan ( Madanagopal ) Sangeetha (Deepa).
The movie starts with the cameo performance from Suriya with some hip shakes from Trisha ( Nisha ) as a lead heroin in the film Industry. Madan gopal drops in to the sets of the shoot to catch up his fiancée (Nisha a.k.a Ambujakshi) where his doubts start raising on the credibility of Nisha's behavior and their love. Madan & Nisha Split on their way back from the shoot while almost running on to a car and meet with an accident.
The crew is shifted to Paris and parts of Europe are shot amazingly. Nisha goes to meet her friend Deepa in Paris for her vacation. Mannar's (Kamal Hassan) introduction as a spy, sent by Madan gopal, to keep a watch on Nisha in her trip is heroic. Mannar took up this job to help his friend who's suffering from cancer. Mannar's genuine feedback of Nisha being on a normal vacation with out any hidden agenda backfires him as his payments for his job were at stake by Madan gopal.
Mannar does the spy job to save his friend from cancer. Ramesh Aravind as a cancer patient and Urvashi as his wife make you get smothered into their sorrow. Well taken! Kamal for this reason starts manipulating and spins a story that Nisha is meeting some one and you can be rest assured about traces of Avvai shanmugi, Thenali, Pancha thantiram style dialogues and hilarious scenes. Kamal's flash back of his past life was amazingly conveyed in a song. The movie moves on till Madan gopal gives a surprising visit to the cruise.
Madhavan as a suspicious rich lover & Sangeetha as a divorced mother of two were commanding in the scenes they have done. Sangeetha’s kids in the movie are apt and steal at more than one instance. Few edited scenes do not bridge the gap in the continuity and keeps the audience unanswered why certain things happen. The movie is finished with a typical Tamil cinema style where Kamal and Trisha join hands at end.
Lack of Crazy Mohan is felt also K.S.Ravi Kumar not coming in the screen play section really puts Kamal not able to manage few scenes at the end. Thought at lot of instances the dialogues are excellent and helps the story to move on smoothly. Good dialogues would create effective screenplay which conveys either the mood, character, for e.g a dialogues such as these bring the audience closer to the movie” Just because of wearing safron colored dress doesn't mean the person falls into a particular religion" Also when Madhavan gives a typical romeo dialogue to Trisha where he says tell me a word I will put the world under your feet replying back Trisha saying " For every one the earth is below their feet.." Also Sangeetha’s dialogue (gave her character in this film out) was powerful in its own rights “the matrimony was bad but the alimony was good”
On the whole the music is very adequate; with yea you have some hilarious moments but over all a sure family treat for the Christmas and New Year.
