Review 1
Where, I have to start for a movie like this makes this review the toughest of all my efforts. I would and cannot stick to the same flow as I have done with the other reviews. So am trying to break the whole review to smaller chunks, so that I do not miss anything out.
Experience: I have never experienced a crowd like this; have never been amidst a second show house full crowd full of tears. This movie is not a grave yard movie that would make few grownups to shed couple of tears, no harm though! Also the tears flow not with the last 15 mins of the movie, it flows right from the moment the two important characters meet each other. As I named this, it’s not a movie; it is an experience, even though the acclaimed theme has been adapted from a Japanese movie “Kikujiro”
Lead Performance: There are just two characters in the film, and there are lots of other characters with whom the two main characters interact. Akhilesh (Aswath Ram) and Mysskin himself playing the other are the main characters. Emphasis on the character comes from their subtlety. Mysskin has overacted in some scenes and has down played at few instances, it strikes a great balance in his performance. The young fellow is a complete scream. Once you start watching this movie, am sure you would get into their characters, 30 minutes down into the film, proves to the point on the casting and performance from the leads.
Music: Well Illayaraja has once again proved with a great back ground score and couple of songs which helps the movie to move forward is sufficient, rather than the usual kuthu and circling the tree songs. The BGM is so very well composed, that it provides you the originality and sets the mood of the film . The music is so beautifully composed that in one particular important scene, there is absolutely no dialogue. It is just pure music with just simple instruments which make this film click. I must say the third character of this film is its music.
Cinematography: For the plot, we may think that it does not need acclaimed cinematography. But when you watch the movie, the roads, farms, mountains have not be lurked but shown aesthetically. There are complete different angles, and camera speed which helps the movie shown at a new light. Thumbs up for the effort, and visualization creativity!
Plot: Akhilesh the young boy lives with his grandmother, is a good young fellow, with an heart searching for his mom. He is currently looked after by a maid who really do not take care of the little kid but constantly try to pluck money from the young kid. Akilesh starts his journey in search of his mother to Annaiyayal by giving a slip to school excursion. He meets Mysskin a mentally disabled good guy, who wants to slap his mother who dumped him in a home for mentally disabled persons. They soon meet up with some hilarious run, end up as interconnected travel mates. Both don’t really understand each other, but have soft corner against each other and use each other for security on their run.
The Road trip is the crust of the story, meeting new characters who come by. They meet a differently abled person who acts as a guide, an lorry driver, a coconut vendor, commercial sex worker, a motor-cycle duo and last but not the least a group of guys who are on a binge drinking-driving trip. Each one of the them have a small story and add whole lot of entertainment and adds momentum to the script. The young kid and his lucky uncle gel together well and make your heart melt. The rest of the story is how both these characters accept reality and find love/ affection through a heart warming sessions of underlying emotions.
Casting: What wins in this movie is the casting, the characters that takes the accelerator rather than the situations. All the characters who comes and intrude the screen has done a picture perfect job and Snigdha as Rohini (the commercial sex worker) is the stand out.
Screenplay: No jerks at any point of time, there is always a movie inside every scene. For each scene there is a start a middle portion and an ending which would eventually lead way to the next scene. Myskin has done a commendable job with the screenplay.
Overall: Am very impressed with Mysskin, whose name never come, as an actor in the starting credits of the film. Also I can clearly see lot of Kuruvi (handicapped guy in Anjathe, in the way he talks), Narain (Anjathe), and lot of characters in Chitrum Pesiadhey in Myskin’s acting show. His acting looks exactly same as the characters I have mentioned in my previous line, which means he gets what he wants from the others in his previous films – a trait every director should have. I would be really disappointed if this effort of Mysskin gets unnoticed. This is truly of international standards. And well it has been rumored that the director has got a cut down version of the original version to suit International audience during the film festivals. Am sure his effort is going to get recognized around the world, even if we fail to accept this path breaker. You should definitely not expect a fast mass movie, it is simple slow and if you can get used to the pace of the film, then I must say this film is off the cage a complete benchmark movie of the international standards.

Verdict - Brilliant - Strikingly Different VJ
Review - 2
I saw this movie with my friend.. and all set and done.. I saw the people around who were experiencing this beautiful journey to motherhood. Suddenly I came out of the magic which Myskin & Raja ( Ilayaraja sir ) has played on me ( On us would be more appropriate). Yes guys... you can be a victim to this movie.
My friend Vijay has given a nice review for this movie so do I wanna, but I thought of playing the devils advocate for a change. The Journey starts without much of a background to be more precise. A unruly mentally challenged person becoming a really sweet hearted upon acquainting with a small boy & more unruly society. Brought a lot of doubt in me as what Mysskin is trying to convey.
This age students are already way matured, showcasing a school kid flying away is kind of imparting something which is not really necessary. Yes the story is very simple with ( Mysskin, Aswath Ram) two people going in search of their mom & and the events which happens during their journey is all the movie is in a nut shell. Ilayaraja sir has been a back bone for this movie else this would not have reached where it is now.
The music speaks volumes and lot of screenplay, dialogues has been conveyed through Ilayaraja sir's mesmerizing music. I wonder why the cinematographer dint think better or consult Mysskin, the type of shots which were chosen in Anjathey are repetitive here again. Showing the legs of the characters where they want to convey a movement is happening. pls request you to try something new. When the small boy is so intelligent probably he could have chosen to help Mysskin tie his pants tightly and not wait until you want a gal (Heroine) to do the same, pretty ordinary.
Myskin could have worked a lot if he wanted the movie to be more realistic I would ask questions as in how come on an highway always you meet only a handful, and those handful being very sweet.. strange..!! Mysskin trys to claim bit realistic with few gang of drunken travel along side making fun. But again the normal cinematic methodology is way predictable as in what will happen next in the movie.
The entry of the Heroine and her claims of her past makes it predictable how the story is going to move forward. A touch of knot was kept and appreciable when Mysskin's mom is taken back to rehabilitation center by him, brought goosebumps in theater audience. The story typically ends with Mysskin taking up a new job and becoming a sane person following which Akhilesh ( Aswath Ram) gets a adoptable mom (Snigda).
No Music by Ilayaraja sir, No Lullaby (Nandalala)...
