Thought
myself that the Melo drams are all far over and dusted, but here comes from the
Myth productions Seedan captained by Subramaniam Shiva, who earlier directed Thiruda Thirudi and Yogi. Make it very clear, even though it was
heavily marketed by the production group that it is a Danush movie, sadly it is
not. He comes in a cameo, may be you can call it as unDanush like extended
role.
The story itself is a remake of the Malayalam movie Nandanam, has all its drawbacks for a remake. The Tamil version, however, has been stripped of the original's essence and
· Remaking a very old movie into a present trend is hard
· Choosing Danush for this role is not very smart
· Malayalam audiences are completely different to Tamil
· On the whole you should have trusted the original and should have adapted the same
Mistakes done in a remakes are easily perceptible, and when found out looks very bad on screen. However again even if you have an imaginative script a Melo drama has few takers now..:(
Casting even though been an elaborate one, there is little room for acting for the entire team. However with limited presence Danush and Vivek’s chemistry in their comedy scenes works. Other than that Ananya (Nadodigal Fame) is ok, new comer Krishna is very ordinary. Dheena’s music confuses with carnatic sounds, but however he delivers a decent BG’ score. Overall a below par outing for Dheena considering this is his 50th movie. However what saves this very ordinary movie is Danush. He is becoming a viable star. Only after he arrives, the movie perks up, but just a bit. Srinivasan's camera-work is just ok, while Ram Sudharsan's editing could have been better.
The complete casts in the movie are devotees of lord Muruga. Ananya dreams herself getting married with a handsome young man... She has no hopes on her dreams but to her surprise her Prince Charming actually turns up at her home, one RAINY NIGHT. He is Krishna, the grandson of Amritavalli’s and its love at very first sight for both. Mano's mother Suhasini won’t hear of it and the lovers are almost taken apart. Then comes Saravanan (danush) and everything around the couple grows good. The whole story boils down to how the couple join together, shown in an pretty old movie telling style (may be two decades old)
Overall a very ordinary movie should have been taken a decade back. Only plus is Danush
THE HOUSE:
It was hushed and audiences were restiveness all the while. There was instant buzz and energy in the crowd when Danush entered and it fizzed away when he is not there. Vivek’s comedy was not lapped, overall a silent crowd in the house.
